Valve has announced a new feature for Steam called achievement sets, allowing developers to organize achievements into distinct groups for base games and downloadable content. This update aims to improve how players track their progress across different segments of a title.
Under this system, players continue to unlock achievements through standard gameplay. Once earned, these are displayed in developer-defined categories rather than one long list. Each set features its own progress bar, and completing a set grants a specific trophy visible on the user's profile.
The update also introduces support for seasonal achievement sets, which developers can archive. Valve suggests this functionality is ideal for time-limited holiday events or season-based games. Additionally, the Steam Achievements page is being refreshed to provide a comprehensive summary of overall progress and set-specific details.
These features are currently available within the latest Steam client beta. Titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight are among the first games to implement this new organizational structure.
