SEGA has announced the temporary removal of Total War: Shogun 2 Complete Edition from all digital storefronts. This decision arrives only 48 hours after the release of the remake, with the publisher admitting the title failed to meet both player expectations and company quality standards.
The release faced significant backlash, currently holding a 15% review score. Players specifically criticized the implementation of AI-generated unit cards, persistent graphical bugs, poor performance, and a lack of overall polish within the user interface.
In response to these technical and design shortcomings, SEGA is collaborating with its development partner to investigate the root causes. The company intends to address these identified issues to ensure the product eventually aligns with the standards expected of the Total War franchise.
While the Complete Edition is being pulled from sale, the original 2011 Total War: Shogun 2 will be reinstated for purchase. SEGA confirmed that individuals who already own the Complete Edition will retain access to the game despite its temporary removal from storefronts.
