Valve has introduced a new beta feature called Steam Achievement Sets, designed to improve how players track and view game achievements. This update addresses issues where new content, such as DLC or seasonal updates, can make it difficult for players to manage their completion status.
The system allows developers to group achievements into specific collections. These sets can be organized by category, such as single-player versus multiplayer modes, or by specific content expansions. Each set features a dedicated progress bar, and completing a set earns players a trophy on their profile, with completion status preserved even if new achievements are added later.
Developers can now archive achievements, enabling time-limited events or seasonal content without penalizing players who missed them. Archived items remain visible to those who unlocked them but do not block progress for others. Additionally, the updated achievements page now includes integrated Global Stats, improved search filters, and the ability to compare progress with up to three friends.
The beta is currently available for both players and developers, with support already implemented in titles like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Completed sets can now be displayed in the Completionist Showcase and across various sections of the Steam interface.
