Square Enix has unveiled new details regarding online features and a roguelike mode for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World. The upcoming title, which marks the company's fifth major content reveal, introduces cross-platform functionality for its multiplayer components.
Players can engage in Online Joint Battles to face massive monsters alongside others, or participate in Ranked Matches to climb global leaderboards. To ensure competitive fairness, the Wrangler’s Spirit ability is disabled during these online sessions. Additionally, an offline Battle Arena offers seven difficulty tiers ranging from G to A, where users can test their raised monsters.
The Wrangler’s Gauntlet, a new roguelike mode created by Scruffy, challenges players to win 50 consecutive battles using a randomized selection of monsters. Because this mode features changing opponents and starting rosters, it is designed to provide unique experiences for each attempt. Items and monsters acquired within the Gauntlet cannot be transferred to the main adventure.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World is scheduled for release on December 3. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
