Square Enix has unveiled new information regarding the RPG Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince, which is slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, a successor console, Steam, and Windows. The update highlights various communication-based features and a new roguelike gameplay mode.

The game introduces Online Co-op, allowing players to team up with others globally to defeat giant monsters in quests. This feature supports cross-play across different platforms. Additionally, players can engage in Master Rank Matches to climb through seven ranks, from Beginner to Legend, or challenge parties uploaded by other players via the Online Foreign Master system.

A new roguelike mode titled The Path to the True Monster Master challenges players to complete a 50-battle gauntlet using a party formed from a randomized selection of monsters. While progress and items from this mode cannot be transferred to the main adventure, the randomized nature of the encounters ensures a fresh experience with every attempt.

Communication-based content, including Online Co-op and Master Rank Matches, excludes the use of Master Auras, requiring players to rely solely on their monsters' inherent abilities. Players can also utilize a private match system to customize rules or visit a communication shop where inventory changes based on the day of the week and story progression.
