Key information

Jagex has officially cancelled the development of RuneScape Reignited, a proposed new character type and economy system intended to attract new players to the long-running MMO. The decision follows significant negative feedback from the existing player base shortly after the project was unveiled at Runefest.

The developer acknowledged that they missed the mark with the proposal, stating that growth should not come at the expense of the current community. Jagex emphasized their commitment to listening to player concerns to avoid repeating past mistakes that negatively impacted the game's combat system over a decade ago.

In place of the cancelled content, Jagex plans to release the Adventure Guide and the initial phase of the Remastered Journey. These updates aim to address various community-requested improvements that have been discussed by players over the past week.

Despite the cancellation, a 10-day free trial remains scheduled from December 2nd to December 12th. This promotion allows new characters or those inactive since June 2nd to access RuneScape Members worlds and content, providing an alternative entry point for those interested in the game.
