Universal Pictures has officially unveiled the title for the fourth installment in its primary film franchise, titled The Mummy: Book of the Dead. The studio confirmed that the production is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 15, 2027.
The narrative direction for this project involves directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett bypassing the 2008 third entry. Instead, the film is positioned as a direct continuation of the events depicted in 2001's The Mummy Returns.
Production commenced on September 7, with filming split between Sky studios in London and desert locations in Morocco. Brendan Fraser confirmed this start date during a film festival held in France.
The cast features the return of Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz as Rick and Evelyn O'Connell. Additional returning actors include John Hannah, Oded Fehr, and Kevin J. O'Connor, while Michael Johnston and Numan Acar join the ensemble.
