Epic Games has launched a preview version of its redesigned store client, marking the first time the platform offers Linux support. This update, which also extends to Windows and Mac, features a completely new architecture built from the ground up.

The updated launcher introduces a refreshed library view and allows users to integrate shortcuts for games installed via Steam or other external platforms. According to Epic, the development team utilized AI tools to assist in writing and reviewing features within the new tech stack.

Epic claims the client achieves a cold start to the store page 46% faster than Steam, while its own startup time has been reduced by half. While an external vendor verified these technical improvements, PC Gamer noted that it had not independently tested the client at the time of the announcement.

The preview is currently available for download, with Epic planning to refine the software based on user feedback. Additionally, the company is working on Easy Anti-Cheat updates to support Fortnite and other multiplayer titles on Linux, though a completion date for this integration remains unannounced.
