Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass when it launches on October 23. The publisher has reiterated this stance ahead of the campaign early access period beginning October 16.

Players must purchase the title individually to access it at launch. The base edition is priced at $70, while the Vault edition costs $100. This strategy marks a shift from previous releases like 2024's Black Ops 6, which debuted directly on the subscription service.

Microsoft previously announced that new Call of Duty entries would no longer launch on Game Pass, a decision coinciding with a subscription price adjustment. Reports suggest this change aims to mitigate significant revenue losses associated with day-one availability.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will face a waiting period of approximately one year before the game arrives on the platform. Activision indicated that the title will be added to the service at the end of next year.
