Smilegate has updated its dark fantasy roguelike RPG Chaos Zero Nightmare with the new season titled Promises on the Snow. This fifth season introduces the Celestial Barrier chaos setting, featuring the apostle Rosweise and revealing secrets regarding the deity Dialos.
The new striker Rosweise utilizes the Justice attribute and the core card Flickering Sword. This mechanic involves two distinct cards, Light and Dark, which interact and combine to trigger powerful skills upon meeting specific conditions. Players can also explore her backstory through the newly added Trauma Code content.
To mark the game's first anniversary, developers implemented several system improvements, including card skins and special-grade costumes that alter motions, unique cards, and voice lines. Additional features include exploration passives for partners and the ability to assign specific divine inspirations to cards during save data editing.
Anniversary celebrations include the Nightmare Festival event running until December 2, offering 70 free rescue attempts, 5-star character selectors, and 1600 crystals. Furthermore, a mini-game called Nightmare Dream Park is available until December 23, which supports a charity campaign for underprivileged children in partnership with Smilegate Hope Studio.
