Sony Pictures is evaluating unconventional distribution plans for director Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-film project centered on The Beatles. The studio is considering a simultaneous release for all four movies in April 2028, potentially allowing audiences to view them in any preferred order.
To ensure parity among the band members, the studio is exploring a reporting structure that aggregates box office receipts for all four films collectively. This strategy aims to prevent individual movies from being perceived as more successful than others, discouraging scenarios where viewers might prioritize specific members over their bandmates.
Producer Pippa Harris noted that the team intends for audiences to experience the films in theaters during the same period. While a single-day release is being mulled, the team acknowledges that viewers might prefer watching them weekly or across consecutive weekends. Sony is also discussing the possibility of offering a four-pack ticket bundle, though this requires coordination with theater chains.
The project features a large ensemble cast, including Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Supporting roles include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney and James Norton as manager Brian Epstein.
