Sony has officially announced the NW-WM1ZM3, a new flagship Walkman priced at $5,899. While preorders for the device are currently open, the product is scheduled for a full release in January.
The device features a precision-machined chassis constructed from 99.99% purity oxygen-free copper, which is gold-plated to enhance audio performance. Sony states that the use of low-resistance gold-plated screws ensures a stable ground connection, intended to produce powerful bass, an expansive soundstage, and smooth high frequencies.
Beyond its physical construction, the Walkman includes a 5.5-inch screen and utilizes the DSD Remastering Engine to improve sound quality. Users can expect up to 35 hours of battery life from the unit.
This release follows the 2022 launch of the NW-WM1ZM2, which originally retailed for $3,200. That previous model is currently available on the secondary market through platforms like eBay for approximately $1,500.
