A PC Gamer contributor has modified Grand Theft Auto 5 to include a jetpack, addressing a perceived deficiency compared to Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The author argues that the absence of a jetpack in the base game makes it inferior to the iconic PlayStation 2 title.
The modification, titled Aerowing - Wearable Jet Pack & Weapon System, features a cinematic launch animation where the camera circles the character during an Iron Man-style pose. The mod includes a speedometer and allows players to utilize three distinct weapon types: an SMG, a plasma weapon, and a secondary weapon referred to as a tube.
The installation process proved unstable, causing multiple system and game crashes before successfully launching. The author notes that the mod currently conflicts with a street golfing modification, requiring further adjustments to ensure seamless operation.
This project is part of an ongoing series of daily modifications applied to the game by the author. Previous additions to the title have included tornadoes, Bond-style ejector seats for vehicles, and simulated scams.
