The zombie checkpoint simulator Quarantine Zone, which launched in January, has received a significant free expansion titled Miami Zero. This update transports players to the early days of the outbreak, serving as an origin story set in Miami.
Miami Zero introduces substantial gameplay changes, including new inspection tools and mechanics. Players must now screen for illicit drugs alongside traditional infection symptoms like parasites or rotten organs. The expansion also adds a research center for conducting experiments on the infected, which can result in dangerous mutants, and a questline focused on repairing a ship for escape.
Character variety has been expanded with over 30 unique survivors featuring distinct voice lines and appearances. The developer notes that the update includes new animations and reactions to enhance immersion. Additionally, a dynamic weather system brings unpredictable elements like tropical rain and dust storms to new locations such as a pier and a music festival.
The Miami Zero expansion is available now for all owners of the original game on Xbox Series X|S and PC, including through Xbox and PC Game Pass. The update also includes improvements to the original campaign.
