Key information
Sega is removing Total War: Shogun 2 - Complete Edition from sale just two days after its release. The publisher stated the current experience does not meet expectations and is working with platform holders to reinstate the original version while investigating ongoing issues.
The launch faced significant backlash, with thousands of negative user reviews citing persistent old bugs and ignored quality-of-life complaints. Additionally, the title faces unconfirmed accusations regarding the use of undisclosed generative AI.
PC Gamer reviewer Sean Martin noted that while returning to the title in 2026 is welcome, the Complete Edition felt incomplete and lacked essential improvements. He expressed disappointment that the release left so much work undone.
While those who purchased the Complete Edition retain access, Sega has not clarified how or if they will be able to revert to the original game. The title remains available on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store as the company coordinates its removal.
