An individual known as Haze recently claimed on X that certain partner-manufactured versions of Intel's D-Series accelerator might feature 512 GB of memory. This October 13 assertion remains unconfirmed by Intel and lacks specific details regarding which board partners might be involved.
Intel's official D-Series hardware, previously referred to as Crescent Island, currently utilizes 160 GB of LPDDR5X memory. While Intel permits partners to reach capacities up to 480 GB, the 512 GB figure appears technically inconsistent with the existing 20-site PCB layout, which aligns more naturally with 480 GB configurations using 24 GB packages.
The D-Series is designed as an inference-focused accelerator featuring 32 Xe3P cores, 1.5 TB/s of memory bandwidth, and 1.3 PFLOPS of FP8 compute. The 350 W card utilizes a PCIe 5.0 x16 interface and lacks display or 3D graphics capabilities, indicating it is not intended for gaming applications.
Although customer sampling for the D-Series is currently underway, Intel has not disclosed pricing or general availability. Any potential 512 GB variant would likely require significant board modifications or mixed package densities, and there is no evidence confirming that any partner is pursuing such a design.
