Digital Extremes has announced a new event for the free-to-play action game Warframe titled "Operation: Way to Tau," scheduled to begin on October 16. Community Director Megan Everett explained that this event serves as a narrative bridge to the upcoming Tau star system, a milestone the community has anticipated for 13 years.

Unlike typical recurring events in Warframe, "Operation: Way to Tau" is explicitly designed as a one-time occurrence. According to Everett, this creative decision aims to make the moment feel special and unified for the player base. While the event itself will not repeat, the developer noted that exclusive rewards, such as armor sets and syandanas, may be made available through other means in the future.

The update also introduces a six-player mode called "Glacial Bond." Everett clarified that this is not a revival of the old raid system but an experimental response to community requests for more challenging cooperative play. The team intends to use player feedback from this mode to determine if other existing missions should be expanded to accommodate larger groups in the future.

Warframe is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, iOS, and Android. The development team continues to focus on global cultural influences for new Warframe designs while preparing for the expansion into the Tau system.
