Activision expects that the release of GTA 6 will benefit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 rather than hinder it. Chief marketing officer Tyler Bahl stated that both titles are positioned to be the two biggest games of 2026, potentially creating a positive environment for the industry.
Bahl argued that the anticipated surge in console hardware sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, driven by GTA 6, will increase overall engagement. He suggested that more players returning to their dashboards will result in more visibility for the Call of Duty franchise.
The company is aiming to address community feedback following the commercial disappointment of Black Ops 7. Bahl acknowledged that the strategy of releasing back-to-back sub-brand sequels failed to resonate with fans, who expressed a desire for fresh, innovative experiences.
Modern Warfare 4, which Activision claims will address previous community concerns, begins its campaign early access tomorrow. The game will be available on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and the Switch 2. Meanwhile, the Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled for November 5, followed by GTA 6 on November 19.
