Freehold Games and publisher Kitfox Games have officially announced Diaspora, the inaugural major DLC expansion for the roguelike RPG Caves of Qud. The content is scheduled to arrive on PC via Steam Early Access on December 9, 2026.
The expansion introduces significant gameplay variety, including the ability to play as various animal and plant species. Players can also explore new true kin arcology castes, utilize spears for ranged melee combat from two tiles away, and interact with updated road and river systems generated through sophisticated algorithms.
Additional content features include mountable saltbacks, dromad caravans, and two new humanoid factions known as the Foxen and snailfolk. The update further expands the world with a dedicated questline involving Je'ome the Bounty, alongside numerous new creatures, biomes, and fungal infections.
The Diaspora expansion will be priced at $14.99 USD. Freehold Games opted for an early access release to allow for iterative development, promising frequent updates that will refine the initial features into a complete, final expansion.
