Key information
Square Enix has released Final Fantasy Resonance on October 22 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with a Steam version following on October 23. The title is based on the first season of the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius but has been extensively rebuilt for consoles.
The game utilizes an HD-2D art style, marking a first for the series. It incorporates a new technique called Cinematic Pixel, which blends 3D computer graphics with pixel art to create dynamic camera movements during events. Additionally, the game features appearances from past series protagonists as visions, who can join the player's party.
Gameplay focuses on a refined turn-based command battle system and a job system. Developers aimed to modernize classic series elements, including Chocobos, summons, and airship exploration. A free demo covering the entire first chapter is currently available, allowing players to carry over their save data to the full version.
Pricing is set at 7,678 yen for the standard edition and 9,878 yen for the Digital Deluxe edition, which includes various DLC. A limited Collector's Edition is also available exclusively through the Square Enix e-STORE for 25,500 yen, featuring physical items like an art book and soundtrack.
