Key information
Maestro Media has officially announced a new board game adaptation titled Clash Royale: The Grand Arena. Following their previous collaboration with Supercell on Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid, the company plans to launch a Kickstarter campaign for this new project on October 20.
The tabletop adaptation translates the mobile game's strategy and deck-building mechanics for two to four players. Participants construct eight-card decks centered on a chosen Champion, utilizing cards inspired by the original mobile title. Gameplay involves managing Elixir resources to deploy units, launch attacks, and defend towers across two lanes.
Lead designer David Gordon noted that the development process involved significant experimentation, including testing real-time play and simultaneous reveals. The team ultimately settled on a turn-based system focused on Elixir management to best capture the feel of the original video game.
To ensure broad appeal, the developers conducted play-tests with both franchise veterans and individuals unfamiliar with the Supercell series. The goal was to create a strategy experience that remains engaging for newcomers while potentially encouraging them to explore the mobile application.
