TCL China Star is preparing to launch 700 Hz OLED panels using new manufacturing technology. According to data from Omdia, the company's Gen 8.6 ink jet printing (IJP) OLED fabrication facility is scheduled to begin production in 2028.

The primary innovation involves the IJP process, which prints OLED materials directly onto the substrate. This method is expected to reduce material waste compared to traditional evaporation techniques that rely on masks, potentially leading to more cost-effective production and lower prices for consumers.

While ultra-high refresh rate monitors already exist, such as a 720 Hz Asus model priced at $1,099, these products remain expensive. The new TCL initiative aims to bring similar high-performance specifications to the market with a focus on improved cost efficiency.

The upcoming Gen 8.6 facility is also expected to produce larger panels, including 32-inch and 34-inch sizes. However, it remains unclear if the 700 Hz refresh rate will be applied specifically to these larger display offerings or if they represent separate product lines.
