Summer Eternal, a studio founded by former developers of Disco Elysium including Argo Tuulik and Dora Klindžić, has officially unveiled Red Rooster. This ambitious third-person narrative RPG draws inspiration from titles such as Planescape: Torment, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, Arcanum, and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic.
The game features an interactive world built with Unreal Engine where physics play a central role. Players control Redrick Roost, a prisoner tasked with infiltrating a fire department to investigate arson linked to his brother. The setting is Arta-Tantor, an alternate history world inspired by Eastern Europe in the 80s, characterized by heat waves and power outages.
Core mechanics focus on manipulating objects and starting fires, with the developers aiming for environmental consequences rather than static scenarios. Players must also manage the protagonist's internal voices and personalities, a feature the team notes is not intended to be a spiritual successor to their previous work.
Red Rooster is currently in development without a confirmed release date. It is scheduled to launch first on PC, with subsequent releases planned for PS5, XBOX Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
