Rockstar Games is reportedly pushing technical boundaries in Grand Theft Auto VI by incorporating a specialized scripted system designed to simulate character perspiration. According to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, this feature adjusts sweat levels based on the physical exertion of protagonists Jason and Lucia, as well as other characters within the game world.
The mechanics of this system are tied directly to in-game activities. For instance, characters will exhibit increased perspiration during strenuous tasks like working out or dancing in a nightclub. Observers have speculated that this feature may have been briefly showcased in the August trailer, where Lucia appears to have a distinct glisten on her skin while dancing.
This level of granular detail is cited as a contributing factor to the game's extensive development cycle, which spanned eight years of dedicated work. The project is also noted for its significant financial investment, with costs estimated to be the highest in industry history, though reportedly remaining under $1.5 billion.
To support such ambitious goals, Rockstar established a new Los Angeles studio focused specifically on NPC development. While the title has faced multiple delays, the developer maintains that these setbacks are necessary to achieve their vision of perfection. The game is currently scheduled for release next month.
