Speculation has emerged regarding a potential remaster of the original Destiny following a social media post by Josh Deane, a product lead at Bungie. While the studio has not officially announced any such project, fans have long requested a technical update for the title, which was originally released in September 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
The rumors began after Deane shared a fan-made video on X depicting the original game running on PC at 4K resolution, 60 FPS, and a 105-degree field of view. He accompanied the post with the comment: "Seems like a pretty game, wonder if it will do well…" This phrasing led some observers to suggest he might be referring to an upcoming release, though it remains possible the comment was merely a joke.
A remaster would be notable as the original Destiny never received an official PC version, unlike its 2017 sequel. Such a release could provide significant performance and graphical improvements for the first entry in the franchise, which combines traditional shooter mechanics with MMO elements across PvE and PvP content.
These discussions occur as Bungie navigates the future of the franchise. Although the studio has concluded active development of new content for Destiny 2, it has stated that the series remains a fundamental part of its future plans, including the potential for new stories and games.
