Developer Gaming Factory has unveiled JDM: Ph4ntom Driver, an unexpected dark fantasy spin-off derived from their previous title, JDM: Japanese Drift Master. While the original game focused on realistic drift racing, this new project shifts toward a supernatural theme inspired by Japanese folklore.

The gameplay centers on vehicular combat rather than traditional racing. Players navigate the fictional, redesigned prefecture of Guntama to eliminate various yokai, including Kodama, Oni, and giant centipedes known as Omukade. The driving mechanics prioritize agility and nitro-boosted drifts, treating the car as a weapon to defeat these entities.

Originally conceived as an expansion for the 2025 title JDM: Japanese Drift Master, the project evolved into a standalone, more ambitious experience. Although the game features thematic nods to its predecessor, the developer confirms that players do not need prior knowledge of the original story to engage with this title.

JDM: Ph4ntom Driver is currently confirmed for Steam, though no release date has been provided. While the developer has only officially announced the PC version, the studio notes that because the original game launched on PS5 and Xbox Series, a release on those platforms remains a possibility.
