Microsoft is reportedly surveying select members of the Xbox Insider Program regarding the potential for major franchises to become Xbox console exclusives. According to Windows Central, the survey asks users how they would respond if titles such as Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Diablo, and the upcoming PHYSINT from Hideo Kojima were restricted to Xbox hardware.

The survey gauges consumer intent by offering options such as playing on an existing Xbox console, purchasing new hardware, or playing on PC. It also explores broader scenarios, including the possibility of all future Xbox-developed titles becoming platform exclusives, though the Call of Duty series is reportedly excluded from these specific inquiries.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has previously described platform exclusivity as a necessary path for the business, emphasizing the importance of exclusive content. However, CSO Matthew Ball has acknowledged the difficulty in justifying the choice of Xbox hardware, noting that exclusivity is a strategy to regain market share despite associated risks.

Windows Central notes that while exclusive titles could boost hardware sales, Microsoft faces significant challenges, including potential supply chain constraints for the next-generation Project Helix console. Furthermore, it remains unclear if these survey results will directly influence future corporate policy, as the company balances its platform strategy against market competition.
