Key information
Shueisha Games has launched a playable demo for the episodic adventure title The Seasons of Books and Keys: Boy's Footsteps, which is based on the novel by Honobu Yonezawa. The demo, released in conjunction with the Steam Next Fest, allows players to experience the game's first chapter, titled 913.
The game follows two high school library committee members, Jiro Horikawa and Shimon Matsukura, as they navigate daily mysteries. The narrative is presented through full voice acting and vibrant illustrations, aiming to provide a television drama-like experience. Players take on the role of Horikawa to solve puzzles directly from his perspective, which the developer notes is intended to deepen immersion.
The story begins when a senior student, Mari Uragami, asks the duo to help open a safe left behind by her late grandfather. The mystery centers on a cryptic message left by the grandfather, urging her to return to the room once she has become an adult.
The Seasons of Books and Keys: Boy's Footsteps is currently scheduled for release on Steam and Nintendo Switch, with further details regarding the Switch version expected soon.
