Developer Bryan Livingston has released a demo for the upcoming simulation game Don't Sort By Color. The full version of this title is scheduled for release on November 11, and players can currently add the game to their Steam wishlists.
The game tasks players with cleaning up a workshop floor covered in toy blocks. The core mechanic requires players to organize these items into labeled drawers by part type rather than color, as sorting by color makes it difficult to locate specific pieces later.
Efficiency improves through tools like the Magnet Glove for pulling specific parts, the Sorter's Eye for highlighting items, and a sifting tray. Players must maintain accurate sorting, as incorrect parts in drawers will cause assembly projects to fail when attempting to build models from scattered instructions.
The experience is designed as a meditative task without timers or game-over states. Players can expand their storage capacity and watch their progress as the pile of blocks diminishes, eventually displaying completed models within the workshop.
