Key information

Raven Studio and publisher Infini Fun have released a playable demo for their upcoming roguelike auto-battler, Cats in the Shell. The title features feline pilots operating customizable combat mechs. Following its debut during the Steam Next Fest, the game is scheduled to enter early access on January 20, 2027, with pricing currently unannounced.

The core gameplay involves selecting from six distinct mechs and hiring pilots with unique active skills. Players construct builds using over 1,000 equipment pieces, modules, and archetypes. As players progress through four futuristic biomes, they must manage limited resources and adapt their loadouts to trigger powerful combat synergies.

The current demo includes the Expedition Mode, where players battle increasingly difficult enemies to gather gear, and the Simulation Lab for testing chain effects between blueprints. An update released on October 17 provided ongoing adjustments and bug fixes for these modes. Director Alex Dong noted that the team is utilizing player feedback from these public tests to refine development.

Combat in Cats in the Shell is automated, focusing on strategic assembly rather than manual control. Beyond the PvE campaign, the game features an asynchronous PvP mode allowing users to compete against mechs built by other players worldwide. The title supports Japanese and is available for PC via Steam.
