Hideo Kojima, the renowned director of the Metal Gear series, is set to make a special appearance in the Netflix animated series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. CD Projekt Red confirmed via X that Kojima will reprise his role as Hideyoshi Oshima, a Japanese director previously featured in the game Cyberpunk 2077.
Kojima shared his involvement on X, posting photos from his recording session. In the original game, his character, Oshima, was encountered near the Konpeki Plaza bar and discussed the use of braindance technology to craft realistic emotional narratives. He will return to voice this same persona for the upcoming animation.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 will return to Night City but focuses on a fresh cast of characters, including protagonists Week, D, Roman, and Talia. The series explores themes of vengeance, salvation, and the loss of humanity, utilizing Studio Trigger's signature fast-paced action and vibrant visual style to depict the narrative.
Beyond this cameo, Kojima is currently developing two new titles. These include the action-adventure stealth game Physint, featuring actor Bill Skarsgård, and the horror project OD, created in collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Peele. Specific release dates for these games remain unannounced.
