Key information
Bulkhead has announced the early termination of Season 2 for its tactical FPS, War Dogs, just three days after the update launched on the 15th. The developer intends to accelerate the release of Season 3 to address significant balance and progression failures.
The Season 2 update introduced four new weapons, four vehicles, three buildable structures, and a weather system. To lower entry barriers, developers reduced early-level experience requirements by approximately 55%. However, this change caused players to reach end-game gear, such as level 4 armor and main battle tanks, within days.
The developer admitted that the growth rate adjustments were a misjudgment. Furthermore, attempts to balance factions by offering bonuses to the blue team backfired, causing population imbalances. Reports also emerged regarding players exploiting bugs to secure high-performance equipment early, leading to severe power gaps between users.
Bulkhead ruled out an immediate data reset, citing unfairness to players currently enjoying the season. Instead, they will expedite the launch of Season 3 to provide a fresh start. Specific dates and operational plans will be detailed in a developer video scheduled for next week.
