Key information
Wardogs has announced the early conclusion of its second season just three days after its launch. Following a major update on October 15, the game saw a surge in popularity on Steam, but official social media channels confirmed the decision to end the season prematurely on October 17.
The update introduced four new firearms, four vehicles including a main battle tank, and three structures. Developers also implemented a weather system and a wager vendor. However, a 55% reduction in experience requirements for leveling caused unintended balance issues, allowing players to unlock top-tier equipment like level 4 helmets and tanks within days, undermining the seasonal progression structure.
Recent Steam reviews are currently rated as Mixed, with 48% positive sentiment. Players criticized the growth gap caused by rapid progression, bug exploitation, and a lack of countermeasures against high-level gear. Additional complaints include faction imbalances favoring the blue team, a reward structure that prioritizes individual farming over team play, and issues with cheating.
Instead of resetting season 2 data, the developers plan to accelerate the release of season 3. Further details regarding the transition and future direction are expected to be revealed next week.
