Starting October 19, all owners of Saros can access the Zenith update at no additional cost. Housemarque designed this expansion to lower entry barriers for new players while providing veteran explorers of the Abyss of Carcosa with fresh reasons to return to the game.
The update introduces several accessibility and control options, including a game speed reduction setting that allows players to react to enemy patterns without compromising the core bullet-hell experience. Additionally, an auto-fire feature assists with weapon usage, though players must still manually time reloads. Motion sensor aiming and button remapping have also been added to further customize the control scheme.
The Carcosa Mutation system has been expanded with 10 new protective mutations and 10 trial mutations. These include mechanics like 'Corrupted Melee Enhancement,' which turns accumulated corruption into a source of extra damage, and 'Enemy Regeneration,' which forces players to rely on melee attacks to defeat foes. These mutations are central to the new 'Eclipse Layer' New Game+ mode, where players must meet specific mutation thresholds to progress.
Zenith also adds the 'Dominator Rush' mode, a training simulation where players compete on global leaderboards by defeating bosses in rapid succession. The mode features sets like 'Invasion' and 'Ascension,' alongside the 'Total' set, which challenges players to face all eight bosses in a continuous gauntlet. Players can filter rankings by weapon type to compare their performance.
