Director Kim Tae-gon has announced Project Jindallae, a real-time strategy game serving as a spiritual successor to the classic title Imjinrok. Developed in response to persistent fan requests, the project aims to honor the 25-year legacy of the original series while incorporating modern AI technology to enhance gameplay and development efficiency.

The game maintains the core strategic identity of its predecessor, featuring three distinct factions: the balanced Joseon, the aggressive Japan, and the power-focused Ming dynasty. Mechanics such as terrain-dependent resource gathering, weather-affected movement, and hero-specific active skills are being meticulously restored to mirror the tactical depth that defined the original experience.

Kim notes that while the RTS genre faces contemporary challenges, AI integration and user-driven map editors are central to the development strategy. The team, consisting of approximately 10 veteran members, utilizes real-time Steam data to refine game balance, addressing the difficulty of manual testing that developers faced 25 years ago.

Currently 40% complete, the game is slated for release within next year. The developers prioritize authentic cultural representation, such as traditional Korean aesthetics, without compromising for global market trends. Kim emphasizes that the title is a collaborative effort with the community, with ongoing testing sessions planned to ensure the final product meets fan expectations.
