Bandai Namco’s release of Tales of Eternia Remastered is a surprising, thoughtful project for a title previously considered a forgotten black sheep. Unlike other entries, Eternia lacked significant fan demand, yet developer TOSE has delivered a comprehensive update that corrects the series' rocky English localization history, including the infamous Volt Glitch from the 2005 PSP release.

The remaster introduces numerous quality-of-life improvements, such as encounter rate toggles, New Game+ modes, and default movement speed settings. Notably, the game now includes previously omitted Skits, which provide essential character banter. Players can also utilize objective icons to track main and sub-events, and the title features a brand-new English dub, though the voice cast remains uncredited.

Reviewer assessments highlight the visual presentation as a mixed success. While the background art is generally well-received, the remastered item sprites often clash with the original character models. Furthermore, purists may be disappointed by the lack of a 4:3 aspect ratio option and the absence of the original English voice acting.

Despite these minor grievances, the reviewer concludes that the remaster is a commendable effort in game preservation. By providing a modern, stable experience, Bandai Namco has successfully ensured that this classic RPG is no longer lost to time, setting a high standard for future franchise re-releases.
