Developer Kedama no Mofumofu Hakoniwaya announced that the garden-building simulation game Doroche no Hakoniwa will be released for free on Steam on October 15. Players take on the role of a jackalope named Doroche, tasked with transforming a winter-bound garden into spring by assisting the dragon god Hanasaka in brewing flower sake.
The game features unique mechanics centered around Doroche’s love for alcohol. Drinking sake helps bring spring to the garden and triggers special animations, though players must be careful not to overindulge. Beyond the whimsical theme, the game includes challenging survival elements; players must chop wood to keep the room warm, as failing to reach a 'nukunuku' warmth level on the first day can lead to the protagonist freezing.
This Steam release serves as an enhanced version of the original browser game previously hosted on unityroom. It expands the experience with new scenarios, additional background music, and five new event locations, including interactions at a tree stump and with the character Hanasaka. Furthermore, a new system allows players to receive daily gifts after spring arrives, which can be used to further develop the garden.
Doroche no Hakoniwa is developed by a three-person team consisting of engineer tamazusa, artists Inukai and Sakanano March, and sound designer Mashu. The title will be available at no cost on PC via Steam starting October 15.
