Prismm, a startup founded in 2020 by Martha Underwood and Shella Sylla, is presenting its mission at the Startup Battlefield stage at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026. The company provides infrastructure designed to help banks retain inherited assets by streamlining the transition of accounts after an account holder dies.

The platform integrates directly into bank cores to digitize estate planning. Through Prismm Designate, customers can update beneficiaries digitally, while Prismm Anchor allows users to store documents and asset information securely. A third product, Prismm Continuity, is currently in development to guide families and staff through the transfer process step by step.

Underwood notes that current market solutions are often consumer-based, which places a heavy burden on families during emergencies. By building these tools as bank infrastructure, Prismm aims to minimize friction for heirs who are often managing complex caregiving responsibilities alongside financial transitions.

Financial institutions reportedly lose billions annually to estate attrition when heirs move funds to other banks. Prismm seeks to solve this by enabling proactive relationship building with the next generation of customers. The winner of the Startup Battlefield competition will be announced on Thursday, October 15.
