Mojang has released the fourth game update of the year for Minecraft, bringing new mechanics to the Ice Caves biome. The latest Java snapshot 26.4 and Bedrock preview 26.70.20 are currently available for players to test via the game launcher.
The update introduces Brittle Ice, a block that fractures when stood upon. Each stage of cracking takes 1.2 seconds, with the block breaking completely after three stages. Unlike Frosted Ice, this material does not melt near light sources and can be harvested using a Silk Touch enchanted pickaxe.
Jukeboxes now support automated playlists. By placing a chest atop a Jukebox, players can sequence Music Discs to play consecutively. While no manual skip button exists, the community is already experimenting with minecart-based workarounds to control playback.
Balance adjustments include immunity to the Freezing status effect for Zombies, Drowned, and Husks. Additionally, Drowned exposed to Powdered Snow will now transform into regular Zombies before becoming Frostbite Zombies. Frosted Ice melting now triggers a vibration event.
