Developer Gaming Factory announced JDM: Ph4ntom Driver on October 15. This open-world racing title serves as a spin-off to JDM: Japanese Drift Master, shifting toward an arcade-style experience featuring supernatural elements.
The game is set in Gun-kon Prefecture, an otherworldly version of the fictional Gun-tama Prefecture from the original title. Players must survive in this corrupted realm, battling various yokai while working toward a final confrontation with the demon king, Shoton-doji.
Gameplay involves driving JDM machines to explore the open world, where players must mow down attacking yokai and destroy red crystal objects. Users can upgrade their vehicles with new parts to improve combat performance. Additionally, the game features a supernatural Hakai system that tracks destruction scores.
The title will include a substantial single-player campaign featuring manga-style cutscenes and a dialogue system, with a multiplayer mode also planned. Originally conceived as an expansion, the project evolved into a standalone spin-off due to significant mechanical changes. It is currently in development for PC via Steam with no release date set.
