On October 9, HAYATE, LINE Digital Frontier, and Crunchyroll announced a strategic partnership to adapt LINE Manga original webtoons into anime. The collaboration aims to produce approximately 15 titles, with the three companies working together from the initial planning and development stages.
The framework integrates the supply of original intellectual property, production management, and global distribution. HAYATE, an anime production company established in 2025 through a joint venture between Aniplex and Crunchyroll, will lead the development and production process. Crunchyroll will handle exclusive distribution in specific regions for the completed projects.
The initiative was unveiled at the Crunchyroll Showcase during New York Comic Con. New details were shared for three specific titles: 'The Remarried Empress' was confirmed for an anime adaptation with staff and cast revealed, 'Mercenary Enrollment' received a new teaser visual and trailer, and 'The Boxer' was announced for adaptation alongside a teaser trailer.
Executives from the three firms expressed optimism regarding the long-term partnership. HAYATE CEO Reo Watanabe highlighted the potential for high-quality adaptations of digital-native stories, while LINE Digital Frontier President Kei Mori and Crunchyroll CCO Asa Suehira emphasized the opportunity to bring these narratives to a global audience through the medium of animation.
