NVIDIA announced that an update for the open-world RPG Hogwarts Legacy, developed by Avalanche Software, will introduce support for DLSS 5 and 3D-guided neural rendering. This update is scheduled for release on November 5, 2026.
DLSS 5, a technology compatible with RTX 5000 series hardware, utilizes neural rendering to enhance game graphics by adding high-quality frames and details. While a technical demonstration in March 2026 faced criticism regarding significant changes to character expressions, the upcoming implementation aims to address these concerns.
NVIDIA stated that Avalanche Software utilized DLSS 5 SDK controls to maintain the game's artistic intent and style during integration. Media outlets including The Verge and VideoCardz noted that the character expressions no longer appear drastically different compared to the earlier demonstration, confirming that final visual expression remains under artist control.
This update demonstrates the flexibility of DLSS 5 as a tool, which NVIDIA previously emphasized can be adjusted or opted out of by developers to preserve original graphical impressions.
