Independent studio autotroph games has released the multiplayer party game Haunted Heist on Steam today. The title invites 3–8 players to enter a sprawling, luxurious mansion to participate in a high-stakes competition between two distinct factions: the robbers and the ghosts.
Robbers must navigate the dark environment to collect scattered gems and return them to a base within a set time limit. To survive, they can utilize flashlights, pistols for defense, and defibrillators to revive fallen teammates. Conversely, ghosts possess night vision and a suite of disruptive tools, including the ability to mimic voices using recorded audio to deceive opponents.
The game emphasizes proximity-based voice chat, forcing players to rely on walkie-talkies for long-distance communication. Resource management is critical for robbers, as tools and upgrades consume battery power, requiring players to scavenge for energy to keep their equipment functional while navigating the mansion's corridors.
Ghosts can employ various abilities such as invisibility, silencing, and ambushes, all governed by cooldown timers. By strategically using these skills, ghosts aim to harass and trap robbers. Inspired by titles like Lethal Company and Dead by Daylight, the game blends horror elements with chaotic party gameplay.
