To celebrate Halloween, Pringles announced the Once You Drop campaign on October 14, challenging fans to sign a digital pledge. Participants commit to having their ashes placed in a custom Pringles-themed urn after death, drawing inspiration from the brand's inventor, Fredric Baur, who was buried in a Pringles can in 2008.
The custom urn is crafted from precious metals, featuring a removable lid and personalized engraving. While the prize is marketed as 200 years of free crisps, the winner actually receives a cash reward of 28,080 USD. This prize can be passed down to a designated heir, ensuring the legacy continues.
Mauricio Jenkins, a brand executive at Mars Snacking, stated that the initiative embodies the brand's core of unexpected fun. The promotional video for the campaign features funeral director Dan McDonald, known online as DanTheFuneralMan, to highlight the unique nature of this loyalty challenge.
Registration for the event was open from October 13 to October 22, with the winner scheduled to be notified on October 31. Participation is restricted to legal residents of the United States or the District of Columbia who are at least 18 years old, excluding international fans from the contest.
