On October 7, 2026, the inaugural "Japan Oshikatsu Awards 2026" ceremony took place at Tokyo Big Sight South Exhibition Building. The awards honor figures and characters that invigorated the oshikatsu culture, with winners chosen via a survey of industry insiders during the "6th Oshikatsu Expo [Autumn]" exhibition.
RX Japan, the organizer hosting the exhibition since 2024, established the awards to further promote the expanding market, which has surpassed 4 trillion yen. RX Japan President Takashi Tanaka spoke at the event about the growing breadth of genres, including idols, anime, characters, sports, and VTubers.
Six groups received awards across different categories: Kento Nakajima for male idols, AKB48 for female idols, Shoko Nakagawa for talent, Kizuna AI for VTubers, Pompompurin for characters, and Kimi Onoda for politics. Due to official duties, Kimi Onoda was absent, and her certificate and trophy will be delivered later.
