Xbox is reportedly paying a fraction of the budget associated with Hideo Kojima's Physint pitch to Sony. The exact amount Microsoft is spending remains unknown, and the original figures were never officially confirmed.

Christopher Dring of The Game Business stated on his podcast that Xbox was signing Kojima for Physint with a budget near $400 million, mentioning estimates between $300 million and $600 million. Dring later walked back that statement, noting Xbox is likely paying significantly less than Kojima's original quote to Sony.

Jason Schreier of Bloomberg reported that Microsoft's negotiated figure is much lower than the initial estimate, while Jez Corden of Windows Central described it as a fraction. Neither reporter disclosed a specific monetary figure.

Physint is Kojima Productions' action-espionage title and spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. The project was initially a PlayStation project before Sony reportedly withdrew funding due to budget overruns and missed deadlines. The Xbox agreement reportedly includes movie and TV licensing rights for Physint and better terms for Kojima's OD project.

The eventual platform availability for Physint remains unresolved as Kojima stated that further announcements will come later.
