Gavin Raeburn, the cofounder and director of Playground Games who left the studio in 2022 after 12 years, is reportedly close to revealing an ambitious open-world racing game designed to compete with Forza Horizon. Published reports published on October 6, 2026, indicate that this project will also face competition from Clutch, an arcade racing title being developed by Maverick Games.

Raeburn previously led franchises such as Dirt, Grid, and F1 at Codemasters and created Horizon alongside Playground. His new studio, Lighthouse Games, is based in Leamington Spa in the United Kingdom, which is the same city where Playground and Maverick are located.

Recent European trademark filings by Lighthouse Games point towards potential titles and features for the upcoming game. The studio registered Ignition: Drive the World and Wonderland: Drive the World recently, while the overarching Drive the World brand first appeared back in 2024. According to Insider Gaming speculation, Drive the World is expected to be the main game title, with Ignition and Wonderland possibly serving as game modes. An official announcement could potentially take place during The Game Awards 2026 on December 10.
