Sony Interactive Entertainment has unveiled the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition Midnight Black, a new color variant exclusive to the Japanese market. This model is scheduled for release on November 19 (Thursday) with a suggested retail price of 55,000 yen including tax.
The console retains core PS5 features such as the high-speed SSD, 3D audio, and DualSense controller capabilities. It is restricted to users with PlayStation accounts set to the Japanese language and the Japan region. Additionally, a matching Midnight Black disc drive will be available for purchase on the same day.
Pre-orders for the console and the separate disc drive begin on October 20 (Tuesday) at participating retailers and e-commerce sites in Japan. The system includes an 825GB SSD and supports digital downloads from the PlayStation Store, with the option to attach the separately sold disc drive for physical media.
Purchasers can participate in a campaign offering a total of two years of manufacturer warranty, extending the standard one-year coverage. This promotion is valid for qualifying purchases made through March 31, 2027 (Wednesday), provided users complete the necessary application process.
