The Pokemon Company recently utilized its Poke Times social media account to publish official concept art for Peakychu, a character featured in the Nintendo Switch 2 title Pokemon Pokopia. This release provides fans with a closer look at the design process employed by Game Freak staff for this specific pale-colored Pikachu.
The shared illustrations highlight distinct physical characteristics, including a smaller tail and asymmetric ear angles intended to convey a frail appearance. Additionally, the documentation displays six varied emotional expressions for the character, ranging from default and surprise to different levels of joy, anger, and sadness.
Known formally as Pikachu (Pale-colored) on the official Japanese website and colloquially as Usu-chu, the character was previously discussed in an August 2026 behind-the-scenes video. The social media post accompanying the art noted that the character appears increasingly ephemeral upon closer inspection of the design materials.
Pokemon Pokopia is currently available for players worldwide on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform. The title achieved significant critical recognition in 2026, securing the Grand Award at the Japan Game Awards, an honor considered equivalent to a Game of the Year designation.
