Nintendo has released version 4.0.1 for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, providing technical refinements for the title. This update follows the 4.0.0 release from September 1, which previously introduced hardware-specific enhancements for the newer console.
The patch addresses four specific issues. It resolves a multiplayer discrepancy where excessive obstacles and item boxes appeared on the newer hardware compared to the original Switch. Additionally, it fixes a bug that prevented user selection when playing with two participants in online or wireless modes.
Further technical adjustments include a fix for missing star fragments on the Wii Rainbow Road track when played on the newer console. The update also improves overall stability by correcting a problem that caused the game to close unexpectedly under certain conditions.
Version 4.0.1 is currently available for download on both Nintendo Switch and the newer console. Players must install this update to access online features, and all participants in a session are required to use the same software version to play together.
